UN38.3 certification

According to the requirements of civil aviation regulations, all batteries and products containing batteries must be air-conditioned according to UN38.3. The most important thing is that each type of UN38.3 must be applied for a single model. The report may be provided by a third-party testing agency designated by the civil aviation, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) may also be provided by a battery manufacturer with testing capability. If this test report is not available, civil aviation will ban lithium batteries for air transportation.



 

The UN38.3 cargo air transport appraisal certificate and cargo voyage transport appraisal certificate are valid only for the current year, that is, the validity period is until December 31 of the current year, and it is mandatory to update on January 1 of each year!

UN38.3 test project
T.1 height simulation test

Under the condition of pressure ≤11.6 kPa and temperature 20±5 °C, it is stored for 6 hours or more without leakage, exhaust, disintegration, cracking and burning.

T.2 thermal test

High and low temperature impact test under conditions of 72±2°C and -40±2°C, storage time ≥6h in extreme temperature, high and low temperature conversion time ≤30min, impact 10 times, room temperature (20±5°C) storage for 24h, The total test time is at least one week

T.3 vibration test

A reciprocal logarithmic sweep sinusoidal vibration is completed from 7 Hz to 200 Hz in 15 min, and 12 vibrations in three dimensions are completed in 3 h; the logarithmic sweep is: the maximum acceleration of 1 gn is maintained from 7 Hz until the frequency reaches 18 Hz. The amplitude is then maintained at 0.8 mm (total offset of 1.6 mm) and the frequency is increased until the maximum acceleration reaches 8 gn (frequency is approximately 50 Hz). The maximum acceleration is maintained at 8 gn until the frequency is increased to 200 Hz.

T.4 impact test

150g, 6ms or 50g, 11ms half sinusoidal impact, 3 times in each installation direction, a total of 18 times;

T.5 external short circuit test

Short circuit at 55±2°C and external resistance <0.1Ω, the short circuit time continues until the battery temperature returns to 55±2°C for 1h.

T.6 collision test

The weight of 9.1 kg fell from a height of 61 ± 2.5 cm on a battery with a 15.8 mm round bar to detect the surface temperature of the battery.

T.7 overcharge test

The battery was overcharged for 24 h under conditions of 2 times the maximum continuous charging current and 2 times the maximum charging voltage.

T.8 forced discharge test

The battery is connected to a 12V DC power supply for forced discharge with maximum discharge current.
